IN THE CROSSHAIRS Episode 14: An Interview with Maikiko James of Women in Film

IN THE CROSSHAIRS is the bi-weekly podcast of Crossfader Magazine. With IN THE CROSSHAIRS, the Crossfader editing staff will be diving deep into a specific topic in pop culture at large. As the entertainment industry has seemed to be rocked to its very core over the past few months in the wake of the wave of revelations of powerful men abusing their positions to harass, assault and intimidate women, it seemed only appropriate to discuss the topic at length with someone uniquely qualified to do so. Luckily, Maikiko James was just such a person and was gracious enough to sit down with Carter for an hour. Maikiko is the manager of operations and public programs at the nonprofit Women in Film, which seeks to advocate for more equitable representation of women across the entertainment industry. She talks about the underlying causes of harassment, what’s being done about it, and what needs to be done going forward. She gives advice for victims about seeking legal help (click here) and how they should move forward with their lives after they have been victimized.

Carter Moon grew up in the desolate Evangelic capital of the world and responded by developing a taste in counter culture, which eventually bloomed into a love for filmmaking and screenwriting. Carter has average opinions on most things, but will defend them adamantly and loudly until no one else wants to bother speaking up. He runs Crossfader's podcast, IN THE CROSSHAIRS.
